My Tab

-->
About a year ago, my grandpa gave me a Galaxy Tablet Android as a birthday/early graduation gift. At first I was reluctant to use it because of my lack of skill and understanding when it comes to technology, but after a month or so I became really comfortable with using the device for many different things such as socializing on Facebook, reading news articles, browsing YouTube, doing homework, and just entertaining myself. Once I got used to my tablet, my eyes were opened to the world of options and abilities that this adorable little device made possible.

There are so many great things about having this tablet. Some of my favorite things to do on it are play TinyVillage (a game where you build a village and raise dinosaurs), watch Jenna Marbles on YouTube, and read everyone's status updates on Facebook. All of these sources of entertainment and way more are available as apps in the android play store. The perks of my tablet being an Android and not an Apple product is that more of these apps are free. And because my tablet is so small, I can carry it with me and use it pretty much anywhere. This portability has allowed me to do better in school and in socializing. I have been able to get more homework assignments done on time through the document apps and kept me from worrying about how I’ll find a computer to get it done on. It has also allowed me to read emails from teachers regularly and become more aware of what is going on in my classes, while the Facebook and other social networking apps on my tablet help me to socialize more. For instance when I’m stuck at home or just not able to go out and be physically social I go to one of these apps and talk to whoever I want.
There are some cons to using a tablet though. One downfall is that it freezes up at times or logs me out of important sites randomly when it starts behaving weirdly. Though this is rare it's still very frustrating when it does happen. And sometimes because of the accessibility of these apps and the internet, it is majorly distracting while trying to do homework or anything of importance. Sometimes if I don't make sure to stay on task, I will waste hours playing games or on the web browser. These flaws do take away from the overall effectiveness of my tablet, and sometimes it may not be worth the distractions. But in reality, I love using my tablet and would definitely feel a loss if I weren't able to use it anymore. I'm willing to put up with the few glitches and downfalls my tablet has in order to benefit from its many positive aspects.
